- Geothermal Safety: DON’T POKE OR STEP ON THE GEOTHERMAL FEATURES! Yes, even if the wind blows your hat off the boardwalk. Aside from destroying the formation, you might literally fall in and get burned.

The entire Yellowstone loop takes approximately 5- 8 hours to drive without stops. But so much more time is needed for stops and sightseeing. Herds of bison may also completely block traffic, potentially adding hours to your drive.
While it’s possible to drive the Yellowstone loop in one day, it’s not recommended. The loop covers over 300 miles and offers countless attractions and scenic spots. It’s recommended to take at least 2 -3 days to enjoy everything on the loop.
