I Accidentally Stayed at a Sex Hotel in Mexico City
Upon landing at the airport in Mexico City from Huatulco, my travel buddy Jordan and I decided to stay at a nearby hotel since I had less than a day before flying out. Searching on Google, Jordan called a number, and just in luck, they had empty rooms left for 430 pesos ($22 USD). We jump at the chance to stay at a cheap hotel right next to the metro stop, just 2km away from the airport.
EuroSuites Motel
Climbing the pedestrian path with our heavy backpacks, we stroll toward the bright red building with the engraved sign Eurosuites Motel. The first thing that struck me was the garages that make the motel look like a storage unit rental below the curtain-covered windows.
“Strange,” I thought to myself in passing.
With no reception area in sight, we see two men standing along the motel driveway. Probably looking out of place, they ask us, “What are you looking for?”
“We had just called 10 minutes ago; we were interested in getting a room for the night” On the board behind the attendant lists out the room prices as such:
“What’s the difference between the suite and the junior?” We ask in our basic Spanish.
The attendant replies with a word I couldn’t understand. We try asking again, and he says, “pole, bailar.”
“Bailar? To dance?” I respond, confusion evident on our faces. Then the images behind the attendant come into focus; sensual black and white images were placed as murals against the backdrop of deep red paint.
The Realization
The realization dawns on me; I turn to Jordan and exclaim, “Oh my god, I think this is a sex hotel! The junior suite has a pole dancing area.”
Now excited, we ask the attendant if we could see the rooms. He motions for us to follow him to the row of parking garages. He unlocks the garage, and a single pair of red stairs twist upstairs in the emptiness.
In For a Surprise
The doors swing open, and we are surprised by how nice it is, especially considering the price.
The first thing you notice when entering is the red L-shaped couch in front of a TV and the studio lit pole. “This is amazing; we have to take this,” I say as I turn to Jordan.
Jordan then makes a good point by asking the attendant if the price was for the whole night.
The attendant raises his hands spread-eagle, “It’s for 5 hours”.
“Well, what is it for the whole night?” We manage to get the price from 690 pesos to 590 pesos (~$30 USD) for the room with the pole!
“The keys?” I question. The attendant replies that we don’t get keys. If we need to get in, we let them know, and they will open the door for us. Then he shuts the door behind him.
A Night to Remember
Once inside, we look through all the amenities: blackout curtains, a rain shower, integrated Bluetooth speakers, and a sex chair curved before a backlit king-sized bed on a raised platform.
Room service placards sit on the coffee table; only, some menus did not sell food.
On the food placard, we order some ice cream. We hear the pitter-patter of feet coming up the stairs, a ding dong of the doorbell, and a creaking metal sound turning. What we thought was a fire extinguisher was a hidden turnstile meant to serve food and pass cash anonymously.
It was fantastic ice cream with a fantastic concept: creamy mango in the shell of the mango it was carved out of and corn ice cream enveloped with a corn husk.
Digging into our ice-creams, we sit on our couch and turn on the TV. Greeted by big boobs and booties, we open google reviews to see if there was any indication of where we were going, and honestly, we would’ve never guessed. Only one review mentioned that it was an area with a lot of prostitutes.
What I Later Found Out
The first indicator of a sex hotel is the presence of private parking for one to hide your car.
EuroSuites Mexico Sex Hotel Review
On the other hand, I would actually recommend Eurosuites Motel to anyone who needs a place to rest near the airport. This was probably the second-best hotel I have stayed at in Mexico, second to the Hotel Diana in Puebla.
The sheets were comfortable as hell, integrated speakers in the room and the shower, and the shower, ahh…a rain shower with tremendous pressure and heats up fast. What more could this backpacker want…besides more of their ice cream!
